Michael's parents were refugees who left everything behind and fled from the former Soviet Union to emigrate to the United States so their children could enjoy freedom and a better life. They settled in New York where Michael was born.
Michael's parents worked hard, taught Michael the value of hard work and education, and are now enjoying their retirement and their grandchildren.
Michael's mother is a retiree from SEIU Local 1199, and the pension and the medical benefits she earned mean that her children don't have to worry about taking care of their parents in their retirement.
Michael earned a New York State regents diploma from Brooklyn Technical High School, a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Juris Doctor degree Cum Laude from New York Law School.
In his successful law practice, Michael represents homeowners and small businesses of all kinds in court and in their transactions.
Michael lives in the Town of Poughkeepsie with his wife, Jessica, who grew up in East Fishkill, has family all over the area, and is a member of OPEIU local 277, their two daughters, who are going into third and first grades at Oakgrove Elementary School, and who enjoy playing soccer in the Town of Poughkeepsie Soccer Club; and their newborn son, Benjamin, who they welcomed into the world on July 17.
There are so many issues facing the Town of Poughkeepsie--a wasteful and unresponsive government, a lack of jobs, abandoned properties and foreclosures, and a general absence of leadership that has led to multiple lawsuits against the Town--that it's going to take some hard work and leadership to begin to solve our problems.
Michael's background in representing small businesses and homeowners as well as running his own successful businesses gives him the experience and the ideas to get to work on the problems we all face together.
